A job interview is often like a first date. You want to make a good impression and you want to know if the job will suit you. But what is the best way to prepare yourself? In this blog you will find all the tips and tricks for a successful job interview.

Before the interview

‘Good preparation is half the battle.’ You probably know this saying, but there is a good reason it is used a lot. After all, it really is true! There are a few things you can do to prepare well for your interview.

1. Research the company

Type in the company's name on Google and check out its website and social media channels. What does the company do, what is the culture like and what are its ambitions? By researching the company, you will get a better picture and be able to determine for yourself whether the organisation suits you.

2. Prepare questions and answers

What questions should you expect in any case? Think about the answers you can give. You can also practise with friends or family to boost your self-confidence. Even if you have questions of your own, it is a good idea to write them down. That way, you won't forget to ask them and you will come across as extra interested.

During the interview

Your preparation is important, but so is the interview itself! These tips will help you make a good impression during the interview.

1. Look well-groomed

You definitely don't need a suit. In fact, we never wear one ourselves! So feel free to be yourself. Just make sure your clothes are clean and somewhat tidy and that you yourself look well-groomed.

2. Pay attention to your body language

Make eye contact and sit up straight with an open posture to show interest and commitment. Feel free to make hand gestures to reinforce your point, but don't overdo it!

3. Be honest and keep it positive

Feeling tense or don't know the answer to a question? That's not a bad thing at all! But be honest about it. It is also best to be honest about your CV, certificates and skills. In addition, of course, you may have had an unpleasant experience at your previous employer. Try to avoid expressing yourself negatively. Instead, keep it positive and professional. This way, you will come across as more positive yourself!

That's it! These tips will greatly improve your chances of a successful job interview.
